Thursday Photo Challenge
Today's challenge is: WEATHER...
As a Michigan native snow isn't that big a deal. However, here in the south it's an event of the century...every few years. Snow in Atlanta is, relatively speaking, rare. When I say rare I don't mean it is a once in a decade event. Usually, every few years there is a significant accumulation ( again, relatively speaking). But the reaction to such an event falls just short of being hysterical. It really is something you have to experience to appreciate. Just the forecast of snow sends droves of people to the store to stock up on bread and milk. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Some how bread and milk will help the snow melt faster? The mentality really is lost on me. I would prefer to stock up on beer but that's just me.
So, about the picture. This past winter we had one of those centurial events. Instead of dashing to the store for bread and milk, like a little kid, I dressed up and went out to play in the snow. It really was a beautiful thing. I hope you think so too.

Thursday Challenge - HOME
A Home Song by Henry Van Dyke:
I read within a poet's book
A word that starred the page:
"Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage!"
Yes, that is true; and something more
You'll find, where'er you roam,
That marble floors and gilded walls
Can never make a home.
But every house where Love abides,
And Friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home-sweet-home:
For there the heart can rest.
I read within a poet's book
A word that starred the page:
"Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage!"
Yes, that is true; and something more
You'll find, where'er you roam,
That marble floors and gilded walls
Can never make a home.
But every house where Love abides,
And Friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home-sweet-home:
For there the heart can rest.

Thursday Photo Challenge...
The Thursday Photo Challenge for this week is: SOFT...
This is Daisy. Daisy was my brothers dog. Was, as in she has since passed on. I grew up with a Sheltie. They are great dogs, very obedient and loyal. Their coat is very soft but they do shed a lot...and according to my Mother, bark a lot. I made a comment when visiting my brother that I didn't remember our Sheltie barking so much. I was quickly corrected by my Mother that indeed she did! Funny how, as a child, things like that just don't bother you.

This weeks theme: Peaceful
This was taken on the back of my Uncles farm in Michigan. On a warm summer day with a gentle breeze blowing there is no where more peaceful!

Photo Thursday - Metallic
This weeks Photo Thursday challenge is: Metallic; Metal, Shiny, Mirror, Clothes, Cars, Jewelry,...)
These are my old hocky skates. Talk about bringing back old memories! Your know, memories like pain and defeat! I was never a stellar player, not bad but not stellar. It was however a lot of fun and in the end that's what it is all about...I guess.
If you click on the picture you can view it larger. But ya probably already know that!

Photo Sunday...June 13
This weeks Photo Sunday theme is Portrait. This is my son Andrew around 10 years old or so. This pose was just so typical of him at that age. He would lay on the floor and watch T.V. in exactly this position.
I skipped the Friday challenge this week. The theme was heavy and I have no photo's of everything that would fit that theme and won't have time to go out and this week to look. Oh well!

THURSDAY CHALLENGE...27 May 2010
THURSDAY CHALLENGE:
Todays challenge is Rest: Bedroom, Pillows, Hammock, Peaceful Places, Pajamas, Napping, Sleeping...
This is my entry, which isn't a photo of a bedroom, a pillow, a hammock or pajamas, and is certinaly anything but peaceful! But what struck me is the fact that kids can sleep pretty much anywhere, through anything and on anything. I use to be like this. A train could blast past and if tired enough I would sleep right through it. Not so much anymore.
